oceandays
For the Ocean Days festival on the Sainte-Catherine Promenade in Bordeaux, the Owlshake collective commissioned us to create their first promotional Instagram video. The challenge: to transform their 2D logo into a 3D character and then integrate it into a live-action outdoor scene.
The Brief
A collective, a festival, a logo
The Owlshake collective participated in the Ocean Days festival, held on the Sainte-Catherine Promenade in Bordeaux in June 2025. To announce their participation on social media, they wanted an Instagram video that stood out from the usual flat visuals—something memorable, with their visual identity at its core.
The key technical challenge
The Owlshake logo originally existed only in 2D—a stylized, flat owl. The idea was to give it depth and personality, to make it come to life in three dimensions. Then we placed it in a real outdoor scene, filmed along the banks of the Garonne River, in full sunlight.
First collaboration
This project marked our first collaboration with the Owlshake collective. The success of this partnership led directly to our second collaboration—the event at Le Bien Public in December 2025.
— Technical challenge
From flat to three-dimensional
The Owlshake logo—a stylized 2D owl—was completely rebuilt in 3D: solid modeling, texturing faithful to the original visual identity, and full rigging to enable animation.
The challenge: to preserve the essence of the 2D logo while giving it a credible physical presence in the real-world image.
The main challenge: recreating natural outdoor light (June sunshine) on a 3D character—so that it looks as though they’re really there on the promenade.

Making Of
On-location filming
Shooting at the Sainte-Catherine Promenade — capturing the scenery, tracking markers, and lighting reference.
Test Animation
Mascot - texture
Test Animation
Mascot — 3D turnaround
360° view of the mascot in isolation — validation of the model, texturing, and rig before integration.
This project led to a second collaboration in December 2025.
How it's made
Storyboard & Art Direction
Visual scriptwriting: How does the mascot appear, and how does it interact with the setting? Defining camera movement and timing.
3D product modeling
3D reconstruction of the Owlshake owl logo — from flat to 3D. Faithful to the 2D graphic identity.
Texturing & rigging
Applying textures and materials. Setting up the animation rig to make the character walk, jump, and move.
Filming on Sainte-Catherine Promenade
Live-action outdoor shoot, natural June light. Placement of tracking markers in the scene.
Animation & lighting 3D
Character animation. 3D reconstruction of natural lighting, with cast shadows and reflections consistent with the actual filming.
Compositing & Final Editing
Integration of 3D rendering into live-action footage. Color correction, subtle grain. Fast-paced editing set to the festival’s music.
